A man driving a stolen Hyundai through Oregon late Saturday night ended up confronting police outside a marijuana dispensary in Gresham. Around 1 a.m. Sunday, someone reported the suspiciously parked vehicle. When officers checked the plates, they discovered the car had been reported stolen.
Officers responded to Northwest 181st Avenue early Sunday morning. Rather than cooperate, the driver exited the vehicle and confronted the police.
According to the Gresham Police Department, the driver first shoved one officer, then fought with others.
Unsurprisingly, the altercation ended with the suspect in custody. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Officers found a loaded firearm magazine in his pocket. A search of the stolen car revealed a matching handgun with its serial number “obliterated.” Police also discovered drugs they suspect to be fentanyl. A passenger in the car was also taken into custody.
So far, the Gresham Police Department has not announced any charges against either the driver or the passenger.
