QUEENS, NY — The NYPD has released surveillance footage showing two suspects who posed as Amazon delivery workers before forcing their way into a Queens home, tying up a family of five — including three children — and stealing thousands in cash and valuables.
The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Monday morning at a single-family residence on 12th Avenue near 152nd Street in Whitestone, police said.
Disguised as Deliverymen
The video shows the suspects walking casually down the quiet residential street — one wearing a bright yellow vest and the other carrying an Amazon package — moments before the robbery. Authorities say the men rang the doorbell and were met by the 43-year-old father of the household, who opened the door unsuspectingly.
Once the door opened, the suspects forced their way in, one of them brandishing a gun, according to the NYPD.
Family Forced into Basement, Tied Up
Inside the home, the intruders corralled the entire family — including two women aged 39 and 18, and three children aged 5, 10, and 18 — and forced them into the basement. Police say the suspects then tied the victims’ hands and placed duct tape over their mouths before proceeding to ransack the home.
They reportedly stole approximately $16,000 in cash, along with jewelry and electronics.
Suspects Fled in Victim’s Car
The suspects used the victim’s silver Chrysler minivan as their getaway vehicle. It was later found abandoned just two blocks away, investigators said.
Witness Describes Terrifying Aftermath
Neighbor John Nardone, who spoke to FreedomNewsTV, said he was just arriving at work when he saw the father emerge from the house with duct tape over his face.
“I said, ‘Are you okay?’” Nardone recalled. “He said his kids were in the basement. I’ve never seen anything like that — a guy come out of his house with duct tape all over his face.”
Investigation Ongoing
The NYPD continues to search for the suspects, described as male, wearing baseball caps, one in a yellow safety vest and the other holding a fake Amazon package.
