BORON, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A traffic stop in the Desert Lake community of Boron led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man Wednesday afternoon after deputies discovered a cache of drugs, firearms, and cash, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on June 11, 2025, when a KCSO deputy pulled over a driver for multiple vehicle violations near Del Oro Street and Tamarisk Avenue.
The suspect, identified as Robert Shaw, a Boron resident, was initially found in possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, prompting a more thorough search of his vehicle.

The vehicle search uncovered a sizable haul, including:

1.3 pounds of methamphetamine

1.5 pounds of marijuana

1.57 ounces of heroin

A large amount of cash

Three loaded firearms, including:

A loaded short-barreled rifle with no serial number

Shaw was immediately arrested and booked into Mojave Jail on multiple felony charges, including possession of narcotics for sale, illegal possession of firearms, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Ongoing Investigation
KCSO has not released further details about Shaw’s criminal history or whether the firearms were linked to other investigations. Authorities say the case remains under active review.
This arrest adds to a growing list of narcotics-related incidents in eastern Kern County, where local and federal authorities continue to combat illegal drug trafficking and firearm violations.
