Toledo Police are searching for a driver who hit a person with their vehicle and fled the scene after gunfire broke out early Sunday.
The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Broer Avenue, near Dorr Street, just before 3 a.m. First responders told 13 Action News that a large crowd had gathered in a parking lot when shots were fired. As the crowd scattered, a vehicle struck a person running on Broer Avenue.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and has been stabilized, according to police. Investigators recovered at least a dozen shell casings at the scene.
Police arrested one individual at the scene on outstanding warrants, but they do not believe that person was involved in the shooting. The individual’s name has not been released.
Authorities are now trying to locate the driver who hit the victim. Details about the vehicle’s make and model were not immediately available. Anyone with information is urged to text or call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
