In response to a recent surge in violent incidents and contraband-related issues, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has placed all Level III and Level IV facilities under a modified program effective immediately.

The decision follows a disturbing increase in violence targeting both prison staff and incarcerated individuals, as well as a rise in overdose cases and the discovery of illicit substances within the prison system.

However, some services will be temporarily suspended, including:

In a statement, CDCR reaffirmed its commitment to institutional safety:

“CDCR remains steadfast in its commitment to the safety and security of its institutions and is dedicated to protecting the well-being of both staff and those in its custody.”

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
