In response to a recent surge in violent incidents and contraband-related issues, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has placed all Level III and Level IV facilities under a modified program effective immediately.

-
California State Prison – Los Angeles County

A comprehensive investigation into the recent incidents is currently underway. The modified operations will remain in place until the review concludes.
Despite the restrictions, essential services will continue uninterrupted. Individuals in custody will retain access to medical care, legal appointments, and other critical services. Meals will be distributed directly to housing units, and movements within the facilities, such as access to showers, will be carried out under strict supervision.
However, some services will be temporarily suspended, including:
-
In-person visitation
-
Phone access
-
ViaPath tablet communication
In a statement, CDCR reaffirmed its commitment to institutional safety:
“CDCR remains steadfast in its commitment to the safety and security of its institutions and is dedicated to protecting the well-being of both staff and those in its custody.”
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
