A heartbreaking and deeply disturbing case has emerged out of Texas, where 21-year-old J. Cleamons has been charged with injury to a child and manslaughter following the death of her 8-month-old son, Courtlyn.
Authorities say Cleamons confessed to placing her baby into scalding water after becoming angry that he had soiled his diaper. The baby sustained severe thermal burns, and although he initially survived the incident, he was found unresponsive two weeks later. Emergency responders were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted by the Southwest Institute of Forensics confirmed that thermal injuries caused by scalding were the cause of death. The death was ruled a homicide. Investigators also discovered this was not the first time Cleamons had subjected her son to such harm—pointing to a prior incident two weeks earlier, suggesting a pattern of abuse.
In a tragic twist, Cleamons had posted a tribute on social media following her son’s death, sharing photos and videos of the infant, including one of him in the bath, along with a message expressing love and grief. Authorities continued the investigation, which culminated in her arrest on June 20.
Now in custody, Cleamons faces serious charges that have shocked the local community. The case serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by children and the tragic consequences of unchecked anger and neglect.
