ELKHART, INDIANA — A mass shooting in the early hours of Sunday left one person dead and at least 11 others injured, according to the Elkhart Police Department.
Officers arrived at the 300 block of West Garfield Avenue shortly after 1:10 a.m. in response to reports of gunfire.
Authorities confirmed that one of the victims later died from their injuries. Several others have already been treated and released from local hospitals.
Investigators believe more than one person may have opened fire during the incident. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation.
No suspects have been identified or arrested, and the investigation remains ongoing.
