A 34-year-old man was taken into custody on Saturday after reportedly attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from a Safeway grocery store in Littleton, Colorado.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at the Safeway on South Kipling Parkway. The girl was shopping with her grandmother in the produce section when a stranger approached them. Deputies say the man placed his hands on the girl’s shoulders and asked the grandmother something like, “May I borrow your child?” before attempting to walk her out of the store.
The grandmother immediately yelled, prompting the girl to break free and run back to her. But authorities say the man wasn’t finished—he left the store, only to return moments later and try to take the child again. This time, store employees intervened, shouting at the suspect and forcing him to leave.
Deputies later located the suspect—identified as Bradley Mikel Wilson—about four miles away near U.S. 285 and Willow Springs Road. He was arrested and booked on a charge of second-degree kidnapping.
Fortunately, neither the child nor her grandmother was hurt during the incident. Wilson is expected to appear in Jefferson County court on Monday.
