President Trump announced a major immigration crackdown targeting Democrat-led cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Calling it the “single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” he revealed plans to deploy large numbers of ICE agents to these urban centers.
In a Truth Social post, Trump praised ICE agents for their “incredible strength, determination, and courage,” saying the mission aims to remove “Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens” from America’s biggest cities. He claimed these cities are Democrat strongholds that use undocumented immigrants to “expand their Voter Base, cheat in Elections,” and take jobs and benefits from U.S. citizens.
Notably, Republican-led Texas, home to cities like Houston and San Antonio, was left off the list. These cities don’t identify as “sanctuary cities,” which Trump linked to urban decline and rising crime. “These Radical Left Democrats… want to destroy our Inner Cities,” he wrote. “That’s why I want ICE, Border Patrol, and our Great and Patriotic Law Enforcement Officers to FOCUS on our crime ridden and deadly Inner Cities.”
Trump’s comments follow earlier remarks about immigration hurting industries like agriculture and hospitality. Nearly half of America’s 850,000 crop workers are undocumented, and widespread deportations could disrupt the food supply chain. New York, home to the largest sanctuary city, also leads in producing staples like yogurt and cottage cheese.
While Trump’s focus is on sanctuary cities, it’s unclear if other areas in blue states will be affected. ICE raids have already spread beyond farms, with agents appearing at courthouses and schools. Fear of enforcement has driven many immigrants underground, shifting shopping habits online and reducing foot traffic in major stores. Home Depot, for example, saw an 8.7% drop in Hispanic customers after immigration sweeps.
