Disneyland, the brainchild of Walt Disney, opened in Anaheim, California, on July 17, 1955. Construction for Disneyland began July 21, 1954, on 160 acres next to the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5), and one year later, Disney’s $17 million “magical little park” was ready to open. When the park opened, there were 18 attractions, 15 of which are still in operation.

Remember years ago when a heat wave occurred once or maybe twice a summer and wouldn’t last for more than a few days? Remember when we who live on the western side of the state could expect a comfortable, sunny summer from July 4th through the end of September?
